We’ve all been there. Squeezing the last drops out of our lotion containers and feeling frustrated with the squorking sound of an empty tube. So sad :(
BUT! Before you toss that tube away, try this simple tip to get more out of it. You just need a pair of scissors and a small container and a Q-tip if it’s a small tube – bigger tubes, use your finger.
This post features my Bert’s Bees Eye Cream almost empty tube, but I’ve used this trick with my tube of Sephora Tarte Mineral Foundation and St. Ives Apricot Scrub and others. Pretty much anything in a tube applies!
When you think you’ve run out, you just have to cut the tube and scoop out the remaining goodness! You can usually get another week or two of lotion out of it, it’s AMAZING how much stuff is left in the tube after you think it’s done! It’s a great DIY to get more product for the $ you spent on it!
FIRST: Cut the tube about 1/3 off
SECOND: Use a Q-tip to get the stuff out from the top and remaining part.
Look at that! Lots more left in the tube!
THIRD: Cut the tube again and scoop out the rest.
FOURTH: Fill up your container with all the rest of the lotion from the second and third scoops!
Wa-La! Success! You now have enough eye cream or foundation or face scrub for another 2 weeks!
How great it that? Is The Bathtub Diva a miser? A scrimper? You betcha I am! And you can be too!
On bigger tube you can use the top you cut off to cap the tube so the remains don’t dry out.
These tubes ARE frustrating! I’ve opened them up before too and gotten out loads of remaining product, so I can verify that what you say is true. You really can get a lot of more lotion that way! Great tip :)
Diva Karen,
Thanks for taking the time top post and agree! I know, it’s really easy to do, but I don’t think a lot of people realize that!
Happy scrimping,
The Diva
