Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive and go do it.
Because the world needs people who have come alive.

This is quote by Howard Thurman. I love it and I’ve been seeing it all over the place lately. I printed it out a couple of years ago and keep it where I can see it every day. Because I have noticed that I seem to need reminding. every. damn. day.

Spending time doing things I LIKE makes me feel alive. Remembering it’s not about what “consensus reality” or the “media” says will “make you happy” – new car! money! sex! a perfect body! botox!

Nope. Watch how your energy perks up or poops out depending on what you are doing. Pay attention to that and let it lead you to doing more of the things that make your heart happy, that make you come alive.

Creating art makes me come alive! Writing for the Bathtub Diva! Jumping on the trampoline! Laughing with my friends! You get the idea. If my contribution is being aware of how I am feeling and being responsible for feeling good/alive/connected as often as I can, then I believe I am giving the world what it needs.

Thank you Howard for this lovely statement.
